Castel Malawi has taken a strong step towards environmental sustainability by continuing with its nationwide tree planting initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.
The campaign was held in Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu, bringing together Castel Malawi staff, community members, and environmental stakeholders to plant trees and promote conservation efforts.
Through the initiative, 2,000 trees were planted at the Mudi Catchment in Blantyre, 2,000 trees near Lilongwe Bridge close to Kamuzu Central Hospital, and 1,000 trees at Kaning’ina in Mzuzu, contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment.
This year’s planting also served as a follow-up to last year’s initiative, replacing trees that were lost and reinforcing the company’s commitment to long-term environmental restoration. The approach ensures continuity and sustainability, setting the initiative apart by focusing not only on planting new trees but also on maintaining and restoring previously planted areas.
The tree planting campaign forms part of Castel Malawi’s five-year environmental initiative, demonstrating the company’s sustained commitment to protecting the environment, restoring forest cover, and supporting Malawi’s efforts to combat climate change.
