The 2024 Castel Challenge Cup concluded in thrilling fashion on 21 December 2024 at Bingu National Stadium, where Mighty Mukuru Wanderers edged Mzuzu City Hammers 1-0 to lift the coveted trophy.
Cameroonian striker Thierry Sama Tanjong scored the decisive goal just two minutes into the second half, breaking Hammers’ resolute defense that impressed throughout the tournament.
The final lived up to its billing, delivering an electrifying showdown. Wanderers dominated the first half with a series of chances, including near misses from Blessings Singini and Clement Nyondo, whose powerful strike rattled the crossbar. Despite Hammers’ spirited resurgence in the second half, they couldn’t find the equalizer.
For their triumph, Wanderers take home a prize of K55 million, while Hammers, the runners-up, receive K25 million.
